Demineralization Cartridge FAQ

Luma-Demineralization-CartridgeWe’ve received a lot of questions about the demineralization cartridges included with our humidifiers, including how often they need replacement and where to buy them. So, here’s everything you’ll ever need to know about them:

What does the demineralization cartridge do?

The demineralization cartridge – included in both our HCW10B Cool & Warm Mist Humidifier, and the HC12W Cool Mist Vase Humidifier – is designed to remove excess minerals from the water in your humidifier. By filtering out minerals from your water, these cartridges can improve the quality and lifespan of your humidifier. Additionally, they will help to limit the amount of scale build up caused by hard water inside your unit.

How long will the Luma Comfort demineralization cartridge last?

The Luma Comfort demineralization cartridges are designed to work for upwards of one year before needing a replacement. Ultimately, the lifespan for your demineralization cartridge will depend on the quality of water used in your humidifier. In areas with extremely hard water, the cartridge may need additional maintenance or quicker replacement.

How can I maximize the lifespan for my demineralization cartridge?

Simple maintenance can help recharge and re-activate your demineralization cartridge, extending it’s, and your humidifier’s, lifespan, while also improving the quality of mist put out by your Luma Comfort humidifier. To recharge the cartridge, simply soak it in a mixture of water and a couple tablespoons of vinegar. Allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes. We recommend doing this about once a month, again depending on the quality of the water.

Where can I buy a replacement demineralization cartridge?

Replacement demineralization cartridges will soon be available at all retailers where our humidifiers are sold. For a list of our current online retail partners, check out our Web site here: Where to Buy.

The Best Back Yard Misting Fan

MF18W Back Yard Misting Fan

We gave this unit a lot of love last year, but with the weather warming up here in Southern California, we knew it was time to talk misting fans once again!

A few people have asked us recently what made our MF18W misting fan different than the competition. Here are a few thoughts:

  1. The fan is made of metal, meaning it will last a long time. Much longer than less-expensive plastic models.
  2. A direct hose connection means you never have to fill the bother filling up a tank with water. Nothing slows down a back yard bash like having to stop and re-fill your misting fan.
  3. Safety is its middle name! Well, not really, but the GFCI plug protects you from shock and ensures the unit is 100% safe for indoor and outdoor use – just try not to turn the misters on inside!
  4. The Luma Comfort brand name means you’re getting a quality product along with a full 1-year warranty. We do more than just stand by our products – we are downright proud of them, and we want you to love them just as much as we do.

Check out the video we put together below to learn more about why we love our MF18W misting fan so much!
