The Luma Comfort PureClean Air Purification System
The Luma Comfort PureClean Air Purification System is made up of 5 different stages of air purification and cleaning. Each of the included stages or steps in the PureClean system attacks a certain type of air pollutant and/or impurity. Working together in concert, this system provides an overall revolutionary form of air cleaning. With so many health issues tied directly to air quality, including allergies, asthma, lung disease, heart disease and even various forms of cancer, air purification has never been more important. The Luma Comfort PureClean system was developed specifically to combat the harmful pollutants found in the air every day.
To really understand just how complex and efficient the PureClean system is, it is important to examine each individual step of the air purification. Looking at the individual stage by itself, as well as in conjunction with the rest of the system, paints a much more descriptive picture of what the Luma Comfort PureClean system entails, as well as just how much cleaner the air can be through using PureClean Air Purifiers.
1. Carbon Pre-Filter
The first step in the PureClean process, the carbon filter acts as pre-filter and is the first part of the system that air passes through. The carbon filter is designed specifically to trap large particles in the air, which can include dust, pet hair and dander. In addition, this filter will also eliminate odor from the air. In addition to the odors found in everyday life, which can include cigarette smoke, cooking smells and various pet odors, this carbon filter is also able to eliminate harmful chemical vapors. The carbon pre-filter also extends the life of your HEPA filter by trapping the large particles and allowing the more sophisticated HEPA filter to capture much smaller particles that are invisible to the naked eye. In Luma Comfort PureClean Air Purifiers, the carbon pre-filter attaches directly to the HEPA filter

2. HEPA Filter
Following the carbon pre-filter in the Luma Comfort PureClean system is the most well-known of all air purifier filters - the HEPA Filter. HEPA filters are designed specifically to target incredibly small and invisible particles in your room. The PureClean HEPA Filter is a revolutionary filter designed to tackle the smallest of particles, and has been found to remove more than 99% of particles at 0.3 microns in size. A micron, more formally known as a micrometer, is a unit a measure that refers to 1x10-6 of a meter, or one-millionth of a meter. In inches, one micron is equal to .000039 inches. Thus, it is safe to say that the Luma Comfort PureClean HEPA filter is able to capture even the smallest of particles and pollutants found in the air. These filters are designed to trap smoke, soot, dust, pet dander, mold spores, pollen and more.

4. TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) Filter
The next step in the Luma Comfort PureClean system is a titanium dioxide, or TiO2, coated filter. This filter is designed specifically to work in step with the final part of the PureClean System, the UV light source. This is also the most chemically-advanced stage of the PureClean System. When TiO2 and UV rays are combined, the process creates particles called hydroxyl radicals and super-oxide ions. These particles are essentially highly reactive electrons. These electrons will aggressively combine with other elements in the air, particularly harmful pollutants such as bacteria, formaldehyde and ammonia. While combined together, a chemical reaction takes place between the TiO2/UV electrons and the pollutant. During this chemical reaction oxidizes, or burns the pollutant. This effectively breaks down the pollutant into nothing more than harmless carbon dioxide and water molecules.
In short, the combination of the TiO2 filter and UV rays take harmful pollutants, and turn them into harmless molecules, thus purifying and cleaning the air in a very efficient matter. This process not only destroys bacteria and harmful chemicals, but it can also attack odors and VOCs as well.

5. UV Light
As mentioned above, the final step in the PureClean system is a UV light, which can be seen attached the inside rear of the air purifier. While UV rays play an important part in the oxidization process noted above with the TiO2 filter, a UV light source on its own also plays an important role in purifying the air. UV light possess a very
While the lifespan of UV bulbs in general can vary, the lights included in Luma Comfort PureClean Air Purifiers are designed to last for several years before needing any type of replacement. Additionally, Luma Comfort UV bulbs are not harmful to the naked eye, and do not emit any ozone, making them a safe and effective air purification tool.
Lifespan : 2+ years
Beginning with the carbon pre-filter, and ending with the concentrated UV rays air passing through the PureClean system is not only cleaned and purified - rather it is completely transformed into cleaner and safer air.
