Luma Comfort MF26B Misting Fan Review
At a powerful 1,700 RPM and weighing in at more than six feet tall and 89 lbs., the MF26B Misting Fan is the largest and most powerful misting fan in the Luma Comfort collection. The MF26B misting fan is also one of the more versatile misting fans on the market with a wide range of uses and applications. To provide a better understanding of just how powerful and useful this outdoor fan can be, here is an in-depth review of the misting fan and its features
Since it is such a large misting fan, the MF26B does require some assembly. The unit comes packaged in three separate boxes, which help keep the unit free from damage during transit. One box contains the water tank and base, another the stand pole, and the last box houses the all-important fan head. Assembly itself is straightforward and simple. Using the included hardware, just attach the stand pole to the base, then the fan head to the pole. Then connect the internal hose connections as well as the wire connectors. Don't worry, there is no electrical experience necessary - the wires all have safety connectors attached, and simply snap together. Similarly, the internal water hose also has a simple connector.
While assembling the fan, you also have the opportunity to adjust the fan head so that it sits exactly how you'd like on the pole. You are able to angle the head either up or down as needed. Additionally, it's easy to adjust the angle later on as well. Once the unit is together, all you'll need to do is add water to the tank. As you'll see, the water tank is easily removable, so you can simply take it directly to your water source without having to move the entire fan. The unit also has a hose connection on the back of the tank. Just screw on a normal garden hose and open the valve, and you can fill the tank that way as well. The hose connection can also double as a drain for when you're done using the misting fan.
Usage & Features
Once you set up the fan and fill the water tank, you're ready for some mist. To turn the unit on, simply turn the knob on the side of the fan head/motor. The unit has three speeds:
- Low: 1,400 RPMs
- Medium: 1,500 RPMs
- High: 1,700 RPMs
Once you have selected your speed, you can turn on the misting system by pressing the misting switch. This will turn on the water pump and misting disc, which will begin to create mist. The centrifugal misting system found on the Luma Comfort MF24B and MF26B fans is different than many other misting fans on the market, and does not include any nozzles. While a popular type of water mist system, nozzles can clog up over time - especially in areas that have hard water. As calcium and other minerals build up on inside the nozzles they will need regular cleaning and eventually, replacement. The Luma Comfort centrifugal misting system uses a disc that will won't clog or break down through normal usage. This means the unit will work longer while requiring less maintenance than other misting fans.
The amount of mist put out by the MF26B can also be adjusted by using the knob on the side of the stand pole. Simply turn the knob to the desired misting level, and you're done. The unit also has an oscillation feature, and the fan head can rotate up to 90 degrees. While the oscillation feature is a bit trickier than the simple push of a button, it does allow for complete control and customization. The oscillation function is controlled by a knob located on the underside of the fan motor. To turn on and adjust the oscillation, first find the oscillation plate and knob located below the fan motor. Loosen the knob and rotate the fan head, which will push the internal screw located inside the oscillation plate so that it is aligned with the side opening. Then, tighten the knob. Once turned back on, the fan should oscillate. To turn off the oscillation, simply loosen the knob and rotate the fan head to push the screw back into the center of the misting plate. You can adjust the oscillation by positioning the screw between the center and the outside of the misting plate - the closer to the center the screw is, the less it will oscillate.
As you no doubt noticed when putting the unit together, there are four caster wheels on the base. This allows for easy movement wherever you need the fan. This is particularly useful on patios as well as in warehouses, where the area you'd like to mist and cool can change on a regular basis. The wheels also make the unit easy to move in from the elements in inclement and extreme weather.
As touched on above, one of the highlights of the MF26B Misting Fan is the limited maintenance needed. The misting disc should run continuously without issue, unlike other high end misting systems that rely on nozzles. The fan motor is also covered and protected from the elements, while the water pump is fully-sealed. The fan is constructed of anti-corrosive metal, which protects it from rust and other corrosion. It is still recommended you cover the unit during extreme weather conditions, or move it out of the elements altogether.
To clean the unit, all you need is a soft cloth and a solution of mild soap and warm water. Wiping down the exterior of the unit as well as the misting disc will help to prolong the life of the fan and ensure it runs at maximum efficiency. The water tank should also be cleaned out regularly, again using a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Be sure to dry all surfaces completely before using the unit again.
One of the best aspects of the MF26B Misting Fan is that it can be used in just about any application where a cool, refreshing mist is needed. It's powerful misting is useful in both residential and commercial locations. The heavy duty construction ensures that unit can stand up to the harshest conditions and extended uses. Some of the most popular applications of the MF26B include:
Restaurants, Bars & Clubs: Various restaurants, bars and even athletic clubs use Luma Comfort misting fans on their patios and other outdoor areas. The high power dry mist provides the refreshing cooling needed, while the construction and limited maintenance make the unit a solid investment.

The unit also adds moisture to dry environments, which helps to eliminate harmful airborne particles. This includes dust and odors, both of which can be plentiful in industrial areas.
Agricultural & Horticultural: The large mist output and commercial construction of this unit make it a perfect fit in both farming and gardening applications.
